Thur Aug 8, 2013 630-8pm V. VALE on BOING-BOING Panel at CJM: The Beats’ Influence on Underground Publishing

“Certain Beats inspired not only the counterculture’s message but its media too, from underground comix and counterculture newspapers to the ‘zine revolution and blogs. This lively panel discussion moderated by David Pescovitz (Boing Boing) includes Ron Turner (Last Gasp), RU Sirius (Mondo 2000), V.Vale (RE/Search), and Layla Gibbon (Maximum RocknRoll). RE/Search will have a small book table including a set of SEARCH & DESTROY & the rare RE/SEARCH #1-2-3 tabloids; if you have a specific request, call V. Vale at 415-362-1465 or email — Longtime RE/Search and Search&Destroy readers know that it was Allen Ginsberg who gave V. Vale his first $100 to start publishing Search&Destroy, the first Punk publication catalyzing the Bay Area branch of the International Punk Rock Cultural Revolution. Audience members are invited to ask questions at the end, and talk with panelists after the event is over.
CJM (Contemporary Jewish Museum) is at 736 Mission St between 3rd/4th Sts, downtown.
