Punk
PUNK: MUSIC / CULTURE / INTERVIEWS

"Due to it's bohemian/artist population, the early San Francisco punk movement displayed a particularly complex artistic diversity encompassing all ages and genders. Without much fanfare individuals were integrating "art" into life, creating one-of-a-kind clothing with paint and collaged objects (a la Raushenberg), wearing and then destroying it all. Many in the punk scene adopted pseudonyms and sported much theatricality; in fact, few knew anyone's "real" names. The "punk rock cultural revolution" launched an assault on all the culture industries of fashion, art, graphics, and music, producing an impact which reverberates to this day."

Punk 77

PUNK '77 began as Xeroxed booklet of photographs taken in and around the Mabuhay and elsewhere on the punk rock scene in 1979. In 1988, James began adding text in the form of interviews with the people who were there and made it happen.
