the Japanese occupation, Ballard has published some forty novels and short-story
compilations. In 1987 Empire of the Sun (loosely based on his experiences
in Shanghai) was made into a film by Steven Spielberg, and in 1996 David
Cronenberg filmed his controversial novel Crash. Millennium People
