Sat Nov 11, 2006 7pm (Doors Open at 6:30, Starts Promptly at 7) S.F. Art Institute, 800 Chestnut St/Jones RE/Search's new book is finally here--you can order it from our website! Or come by our office (telephone 415-362-1465 first) and get one in person. Or, buy one at the PRANKSFEST SFAI Nov 11 & have a good time, too! Thanks to the sponsorship of SFAI Teacher Mark Van Proyen (author of AFTER BURN, a book on BURNING MAN), RE/Search is having its PRANKS 2 Book Party at the venerable San Francisco Art Institute. From 6:30pm on there will be a "party" at the S.F.A.I. Cafe (with accompanying fantastic city views on the adjacent plaza). The latest RE/Search, PRANKS 2, will be for sale, and if you buy a book, you get in free to the PRANKSFEST in the SFAI Auditorium (otherwise, admission is $5). PRANKSFEST is still being planned, but so far we've lined up: Mal Sharpe (featured in RE/Search's first PRANKS book, and Pranks 2 as well) as emcee, along with host V. Vale. The program begins with a full-featured presentation by anonymous Billboard Liberation Front (BLF) persons, including video footage of actual billboard modifications done in cahoots with Ron English (artist featured in PRANKS 2). Questions from the audience will be taken. Next a video excerpt from Scott Beale's video documentary on the Cacophony Society's "SANTARCHY" happenings will be screened, and Scott Beale in person will take a few questions from the audience. (For the past ten years, groups of folks dressed up as Santa Claus have invaded department stores, hotel parties and other events, causing ideological havoc and consumer confusion--anarchic fun! Over the years, the Santas have spread to major cities over the planet.) An excerpt from a RE/Search video featuring JIHAD JERRY (formerly Jerry Casale of DEVO) will be screened, along with his hilarious "Army Girls Gone Wild" 3-minute video. We're hoping JIHAD JERRY may appear in person...stay tuned. Local computer whiz Marc Powell (and others?) will give a historical/visual presentation on "hacking" and its future potential for social change. Questions from the audience follow. We're airing an excerpt from Cyclecide's exciting video, which will be narrated by Jarico Reesce... And, will there be some kind of prank pulled? Let's hope not, cuz we'd like to have future events at the S.F.A.I.--that's why.) Index of Feature Articles |
