In addition to being a legendary underground comic artist, Phoebe Gloeckner is also an award-winning medical illustrator whose work has been shown internationally. Her vivid illustrations appear throughout the text and on the cover of J.G. Ballard's The Atrocity Exhibition and on the cover of The RE/Search Guide to Bodily Fluids. Her most famous RE/Search contribution, the cover of Angry Women, features the unforgettable image of a modern-day Medusa with phones and missiles embedded in her snake-topped head. A Child's Life

In 1998, Gloeckner published the graphic novel A Child's Life and Other Stories (Frog Ltd.). A Child's Life is an anthology of Gloeckner's drawings, comics, posters, and stories, each rendered with the technical and emotional artistry that are the trademarks of this major literary and visual artist.

Gloeckner is now working on her second profusely illustrated novel, The Diary of a Teenage Girl. Look for it early next year.
